2021 Hotlist

Here's what's on the calendar this year, and my wishlist for future trips...

STATUS: Booked May 2021

I had credits from both Intrepid Tours and Turkish Airlines, so it seemed like the time was right for this one. We'll see.

STATUS: Reserved for November 2021

Surely, we'll be able to travel freely by November. Right? RIGHT???? As I picture it in my mind, this trip would involve stops in Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

STATUS: Penciled in for March 2022

This was supposed to be the first post-Covid trip, but it was not to be. The airline miles and fees paid have both been returned, so I'm figuring 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again'.

Status: Plan 'B' for May 2021

If the Turkey trip falls through and I have to stay stateside this spring, I plan to buy an Amtrak USA Rail Pass and wander around the country for fifteen days. In fact, I already have one hotel reserved in an undisclosed location... just in case.

Speaking of trains, this journey from Moscow through Mongolia to Beijing seems like a 'bucket list' item. A lot will depend on the geopolitical situation going forward.

STATUS: Wish Listed

Scratching off the final occupied continent (Oceana) that I have yet to visit is something I'd want to do sooner rather than later.  It's expensive, though... who wants to share a rented camper van with me?

STATUS: Wish Listed

Another one of the less budget-friendly options here, but one I definitely want to get done while I'm still young enough to really enjoy it. Still haven't decided between someplace like Namibia, or someplace more like Tanzania.

STATUS: Wish Listed

Quite possibly the least expensive trip on this list, this would likely involve me flying to Sofia or Bucharest and bopping around the countryside for a couple of weeks.

STATUS: Wish Listed

About a nine hour drive away from my home is the John C. Campbell Folk School, a place where adults can stay in the beautiful NC Mountains and learn things such as blacksmithing, dulcimer playing, or storytelling. Count me in!

STATUS: Wish Listed

Like going to Europe without leaving the continent, I look forward to seeing the French side of Canada. The only question is... do I go in the summer or the winter?

STATUS: Wish Listed

The second of three trips (so far) canceled by COVID, I'm hoping to re-book this one someday. Agra (the Taj Mahal, Varanasi, and Kathmandu are three places I'm eager to get to.

STATUS: Wish Listed

I've been to Baja, and I've been to the Yucatan, but people tell me you haven't 'really' been to Mexico until you've seen its sprawling, historic capital.
